From a few phone calls I got today, I might be in trouble. I left post yesterday to get a hotel room for the weekend after checking in at the CQ desk, but apparently I was supposed to be informed of a mandatory training session today on Sexual Harassment. And because I wasn't told that I was expected to be there, it becomes my problem. One of the first persons to call me was my roommate; telling me I should go back early. I told him that I'd be back later -- Sunday -- to sort this mess out, and if they want me to pull some BS extra duty, I'll tell them where to stick it.
Of course, it might be better if I bit the bullet-- if I insist that it wasn't my problem, they may want me to check in more often during the day which really would not bode well for me in the few weeks left I have there on Fort Gordon. Negotiations may be necessary. If it is possible of course, for a private to negotiate with his NCO support channel.
But I am happy. Even if it becomes necessary for me to agree to do some extra duty, I'll have some fun shooting some pics of this, that and the other.
I really don't get how the Army operates.
